When you are conditioning three or more spaces, a single multi-zone outdoor unit is usually more cost-effective and tidier than installing that many separate single-zone systems, because the rooms share one outdoor condenser. The tradeoff is that the whole multi-zone group depends on that one outdoor unit, so sizing and design matter even more.
