Furnace Repair, Tune-Ups & New Installations in Corsicana, TX

Gas furnace service for Navarro County homes, from a no-heat call on the first cold night to a planned replacement before the season turns.

Heating in Central Texas is a stop-and-start affair. A furnace here may sit idle for weeks, then run hard through a cold snap that drops temperatures forty degrees overnight. That pattern is exactly what finds weak igniters, dirty burners and tired blower motors, and it is why fall service matters as much here as it does further north.

Area Wide Services has installed, repaired and maintained gas furnaces across Corsicana, Navarro County, Ellis County, Henderson County and Freestone County since 2003. We are an Armstrong ProTeam Dealer and an American Standard Customer Care Dealer, and we are a family-owned, woman-owned company and Chamber of Commerce member.

Furnace Basics

Single-Stage, Two-Stage and Modulating Furnaces

Gas furnaces differ mainly in how finely they can control their own output, and that difference shows up in comfort as much as in operating cost.

A single-stage furnace fires at 100% output whenever it runs. It is simple and dependable, and it is why older homes see warm and cool swings between cycles. A two-stage furnace operates at two levels, typically around 65% and 100% capacity, so mild days are handled on low fire. A modulating furnace adjusts incrementally, often in 1% increments, holding a much steadier temperature.

Which one suits your home depends on the house, not the brochure. We size every replacement with a load calculation and walk you through the trade-offs before you commit.

Understanding AFUE Ratings

AFUE stands for Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency, and it describes how much of the gas you buy becomes heat in your home.

  • check_circle80% AFUE - An 80% efficient furnace converts 80% of fuel to heat, losing 20% through the exhaust
  • check_circle95%+ AFUE - A 95% efficient furnace converts 95% to heat, losing only 5%
  • check_circleCondensing models - High-efficiency furnaces produce condensation and use PVC venting rather than traditional metal flue pipes, which affects what installation involves
  • check_circleEquipment life - Furnaces average fifteen to twenty years of service with proper care, commonly dropping to ten to twelve without maintenance
Safety First

Why a Furnace Inspection Is a Safety Inspection

A furnace burns fuel inside your house, which puts it in a different category from the rest of your HVAC equipment. The heat exchanger is the barrier between combustion gases and the air you breathe, and a cracked heat exchanger can allow dangerous combustion gases to enter your home. That is why a crack typically warrants furnace replacement rather than repair.

Call Us Sooner Rather Than Later If You Notice

  • check_circleA yellow or flickering pilot light instead of a steady blue flame
  • check_circleBanging, popping, squealing or rumbling from the furnace
  • check_circleExcessive dust, or the system shutting itself off repeatedly
  • check_circleAny odor you associate with gas, in which case leave the house and call from outside

Heating Without a Gas Furnace

A furnace is not the only way to heat a Corsicana home, and for some households it is not the best one. If you are weighing a replacement, these options are worth a look before you decide.

  • check_circleHeat pumps handle both heating and cooling from one system, and can pair with a gas furnace in a dual-fuel setup
  • check_circleDuctless mini-splits heat and cool individual rooms without ductwork
  • check_circleGeothermal systems draw on stable ground temperatures for the highest efficiency available

Furnace Questions From Central Texas Homeowners

We handle furnace repair, annual maintenance and tune-ups, and full furnace installation or replacement. Each service has its own page covering the process in detail, and every job is performed by technicians trained through our Armstrong ProTeam and American Standard Customer Care Dealer programs.

We recommend annual maintenance for most furnaces, ideally scheduled in fall before the heating season begins. This timing allows our technicians to identify and address any issues before you need to rely on your system for daily heating.

Repair usually makes sense on a furnace less than 10 to 12 years old. Once a unit is approaching or exceeding 15 to 20 years of age, or repair costs exceed 50% of replacement costs, replacement deserves serious consideration. We give you both numbers before you decide.

An 80% efficient furnace converts 80% of fuel to heat, losing 20% through the exhaust. A 95% efficient furnace converts 95% to heat, losing only 5%. High-efficiency condensing models also vent differently, using PVC piping rather than a traditional metal flue.
